THE STRANGE THIRTEEN

Tales of India by Richard B. Gamon

With an Introduction by John Pelan

Dancing Tuatara Press #25

A legendary rarity, The Strange Thirteen was first published over eighty years ago in a tiny print run by the author-subsidized company of Henry Drane Ltd. Richard B. Gamon's tales of the supernatural in India at the dawn of the twentieth century are especially memorable due to the richness of detail and the veracity of atmosphere that comes from the first-hand experience of the author. Gamon's stories were published in the British weeklies such as The Weekly Tale Teller and while there remain uncollected stories, this is the selection that the author deemed worthy of preservation when he assembled this collection for publication in 1925.

The stories are:

The Men from Thibet

The Beast

The Marble Cavalier

The Tiger’s Child

Sitara

The Ancestral Way

The Sword of Akbar

The Return

WILL

The Love Leopard

THE TEMPLE BELL

 LADY BETTY
